Vehicle Air Conditioning Service

What are the benefits of air conditioning?

  • Cools air in summer
  • Defrosts windows in winter
  • Eases allergy symptoms by filtering air
  • Pleasant and odor free vehicle

Why does a car need an air conditioning recharge or refilling?

Today’s modern systems use much less Freon than in years past and it is critical to keep the system properly charged. Your air conditioning system can lose up to 15% of its coolant every year, so a 3 year old car may have lost almost half its Freon, seriously impacting the performance of the system and damaging the components involved. You should regularly have the air conditioning systems serviced to reduce wear and tear on the components and help avoid potentially big repair bills.

Our AC service usually consists of evacuating the entire system and testing to see if the unit will hold a vacuum. If it does hold a vacuum, it tells us that that are no leaks, or at that any leaks would be very minor. These types of leaks can sometimes be very difficult to find. When recharging or refilling the system, we add the exact amount of Freon and oil the system calls for and add a dye to aid in finding any future leaks.

Converting old R12 Refrigerant to Modern 134A

Some older vehicles use R12 refrigerant which is no longer produced. We can convert most cars that use R12 to use 134A which is now the  standard for air conditioning systems.
